Kru Virak is a long term member of the Fairtex Family. The young athlete and trainer began fighting when he was 6 years old.
“My first fight was a draw. It was for about 500 baht,” he said.
Born Virak Chhoun, he’s been with Fairtex for over 14 years. In that time he fought over 70 times.

“I fought at Thepprasit many times. It was maybe 16 times. I fought at Max Muay Thai and the other provinces. I fought in Samut Prakhon,” he said.
Growing up in the gym and fighting was a passion. He took to Muay Thai because it was a way to protect himself and provide for his family.
Virak was one of the first Thai fighters to participate in MMA. He fought under Full Metal Dojo. The promotion put on shows in Bangkok.
“I fought MMA 2 or 3 times,” he said. “It was a new experience for me. I fought in Bangkok at FMD and I wanted to try something new. I won by knockout. It was from a punch.”
After experiencing the cage, Virak shifted into becoming a trainer. He’s worked as a trainer for over ten years. Focusing on Muay Mat style and strong kicks he’s worked with athletes like Y2k, Ferrari, Kongseuk, Yodsanklai, and Anita Karim. In addition, he’s popular with new students.

“When I train people I like leg kicks,” he said. “When I fight taller people I think you should punch and leg kick. I’m not tall so I like that style. Jab, jab, and leg kick.”
A new world of possibilities is open for trainers like Virak. For now, he loves Fairtex.
“I like it here. Mr. Wong takes care of people,” he said. The future is still open for Virak and we’re so happy to have him at the gym
